The guide below takes a deep look into the Saskatchewan Experience (SE) streams of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The guide will go through an overview of the streams, their eligibility requirements, how they works, the documentation needed, their cost and processing times.
Overview of the Saskatchewan Experience streams
The Saskatchewan Experience (SE) streams require that the candidate hold a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer and have work experience in the province to be eligible.
When receiving a nomination under one of the SE streams, candidates can then apply for Permanent Residence to the federal government of Canada. |
The SE streams are not aligned with Express Entry, which means that candidates cannot take advantage of the 6-month average processing times of Express Entry. Processing times of Provincial Nominee Programs (not aligned with Express Entry) are usually longer and take at least 1 year.
The Saskatchewan Experience category consists of 5 streams:
The SE streams require a valid job offer and previous work experience in the province as their main eligibility requirements, and candidates do not need to provide proof of funds. There are other requirements that must be fulfilled regarding the candidate and the job offer.
The Saskatchewan Experience category consists of 5 streams:
- Existing Work Permit (Skilled Worker and Semi-skilled Agricultural Worker sub-streams),
- Health Professionals (Physicians, Nurses, and Other Health Professions sub-streams),
- Hospitality Workers,
- Long-Haul Truck Driver, and
- Students.
The SE streams require a valid job offer and previous work experience in the province as their main eligibility requirements, and candidates do not need to provide proof of funds. There are other requirements that must be fulfilled regarding the candidate and the job offer.
Eligibility Requirements
There are 2 main categories of eligibility requirements that we will summarize below (there is no proof of settlement funds requirement for these streams). You can apply to any of the Saskatchewan Experience streams if you satisfy to all the requirements below. However, there are a few points to keep in mind:

To be eligible to one of the stream, you need to have an offer of permanent, full-time employment in Saskatchewan. You will need a valid SINP Job Approval Letter (your employer needs to apply for one) to show proof of this.

2. Specific requirements to each stream:

- Graduates working on a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) must apply to the Students stream (or the Employment Offer stream).
- Food and Beverage Servers/Persons must apply under the Hospitality Sector stream.
- Health professionals must apply to one of the three Health Professional sub-streams.

To be eligible to one of the stream, you need to have an offer of permanent, full-time employment in Saskatchewan. You will need a valid SINP Job Approval Letter (your employer needs to apply for one) to show proof of this.
The job offer must offer wages and working conditions that match Canadian standards in that occupation. It must also:
- Be addressed to you,
- State the job title, duties and responsibilities, wage, benefits, and company contact information,
- List the location (i.e. town/city) of your position in Saskatchewan,
- Be issued on the company’s letterhead, and
- Be signed by the employer.
You must also have at least 6 months of work experience in Saskatchewan to be eligible. More details on each stream in the table below.

SINP Saskatchewan Experience streams | Eligibility requirements |
---|---|
Existing Work Permit - Skilled Worker | Have a permanent full-time job offer from a Saskatchewan employer. Individuals with a Canada Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) work permit, a work permit supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), or a Mobilite Francophone Work Permit, can apply with NOC TEER Category 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 job occupations.
For other types of work permits, the job is required to be in an NOC TEER Category 0, 1, 2 ou 3, or in a designated trade. Have worked for more than six months for the employer offering you the job, with a valid work permit issued by IRCC. Your permanent, full-time job offer must be for the same position that you have been working in for the past six months. Have proof of eligibility for Saskatchewan licensure if your occupation is regulated in Saskatchewan and requires mandatory (compulsory) certification or licensure. Have a minimum language score of CLB4 in French and/or English if your job offer is in an NOC TEER Category 4 or 5. |
Existing Work Permit - Semi-skilled Agriculture Worker | Have a permanent full-time job offer from a Saskatchewan employer. The job is required to be in the following NOC occupations: - NOC 85100 - Livestock labourers - NOC 85101 - Harvesting labourers - NOC 84120 - Specialized livestock workers and farm machinery operators - NOC 85103 - Nursery and Greenhouse labourers Have worked for more than six months for the employer offering you the job, with a valid work permit issued by IRCC. Your permanent, full-time job offer must be for the same position that you have been working in for the past six months. Your work permit must be for the Seasonal Agriculture Worker Program, International Experience Canada, or the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Have completed the equivalent of a Canadian secondary school education (high school) or above. Have a minimum language score of CLB4 in French and/or English if your job offer is in an NOC TEER Category 4 occupation. |
Health Professionals - Physicians | Be a licensed physician from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CoPSS). Have a permanent, full-time job offer that has been (i) issued by a provincial health authority or the health education institution where you're currently working, and/or (ii) verified with documents that describe your permanent arrangement to practice medicine in a Saskatchewan medical office. These could be a business plan or contract, a partnership agreement, or other documents describing your practice. Have been practicing as a physician in Saskatchewan for at least six months with a valid work permit issued by IRCC. |
Health Professionals - Nurses | Be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), a Psychiatric Nurse or a Registered Nurse (RN). Have a permanent, full-time job offer from the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, or another publicly funded health employer. Have been practicing as a nurse in Saskatchewan for at least six months with a valid work permit issued by IRCC. |
Health Professionals - Other Health Professions | Have a permanent, full-time job offer from The Saskatchewan Health Authority, The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, or another health employer, in an NOC TEER Category 0, 1, 2, 3 ou 4. Have been working in an approved health job in Saskatchewan, for at least six months for the employer offering you the permanent job, in the same job position, with a valid work permit from IRCC. Have proof of eligibility for Saskatchewan licensure if your occupation is regulated in Saskatchewan and requires mandatory (compulsory) certification or licensure. Have at least one academic year of post-secondary education or job specific training. Have a minimum language score of CLB4 in English and/or French if your job offer is in an NOC TEER Category 4 occupation. |
Hospitality Workers | Work for an SINP-approved employer in the Hospitality Sector for a least six months on a temporary work permit. The work permit must have been issued by IRCC through a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for one of the following:
- NOC 65200 - Food/Beverage Server - NOC 65201 - Food Counter Attendant/Kitchen Helper - NOC 65310 - Housekeeping/Cleaning Staff Have an offer of permanent, full-time employment from your current employer. Have completed at least Grade 12 education (or its equivalent). Have at least CLB4 or higher English and/or French language ability in all four categories (listening, speaking, reading and writing). |
Long-Haul Truck Driver | Be working for an SINP-approved Saskatchewan trucking firm for at least six months on a temporary work permit. Have a current Saskatchewan Class 1A driver's licence and Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT). If you are not currently working in Saskatchewan, you can apply without the Class 1A driver's licence, but you will need to obtain this licence and MELT upon arrival in order to work in Saskatchewan and obtain the nomination. Have an offer of full-time, permanent employment (NOC 73300) from your employer which must be an approved trucking firm in Saskatchewan. Have at least CLB4 or higher English and/or French language ability in all four categories (listening, speaking, reading and writing). |
Students | Graduated with a certificate, a diploma, or a degree from (i) a recognized post-secondary educational institution in Saskatchewan or (ii) a program equivalent to at least one academic year (8 months) of full-time study from a recognized post-secondary educational institution in Canada (outside of Saskatchewan). - Studies in Saskatchewan: Have worked for a minimum of 6 months (or 780 hours) of paid employment in Saskatchewan. Eligible types of work experience include: on-campus, off-campus, co-op terms, graduate fellowships, and/or work experience gained on a Post-Graduate Work Permit. - Studies in Canada but outside Saskatchewan: Have worked after graduation with a Post-Graduation Work Permit for at least six consecutive months (minimum 780 hours) of paid employment in Saskatchewan in a position related to the field of study. Hold a valid post-graduation work permit from IRCC. Have a current, permanent, full-time job offer in the field of study from a Saskatchewan employer. The job should be (i) in an occupation in an NOC TEER Category 0, 1, 2 or 3, or in a designated trade, and (ii) related to the field of study and requires post-secondary education. Have a minimum language score of CLB4 in English and/or French if the job offer is an NOC TEER Category 4 or 5 designated trade. |
Remote out of Saskatchewan work experience is not eligible to be claimed as in-Saskatchewan work experience
Application Process Summary
For a better understanding of the process, below is a list of the steps involved in obtaining Permanent Residence through one of the Saskatchewan Experience (SE) streams. Candidates must:
- Qualify for the SINP stream eligibility requirements and apply to one of the SE streams by submitting their application through SINP Online (filling in forms and uploading required documents).
- Apply for permanent residence to the federal government (IRCC) within 6 months of receiving the nomination (after SINP processes their application). Candidates need to apply on paper to IRCC, and include the nomination documents received from the SINP.

Application Fees
There is no fees for any of the Saskatchewan Experience streams.
Processing Times
Based on the latest estimates (July 1 to September 30, 2023) from the SINP, Saskatchewan Experience streams applications are processed on average within:
An SINP Job Approval Letter is processed:
- 2 weeks for the Existing Work Permit sub-streams (both Skilled Worker and Semi-skilled Agricultural Worker),
- 3 weeks for the Health Professionals sub-streams (Physicians, Nurses, and Other Health Professions),
- 1 week for the Hospitality Workers stream,
- 2 weeks for the International Students stream, and
- 2 weeks for the three Long-Haul Truck Driver stream.
An SINP Job Approval Letter is processed:
- within 8 weeks if a candidate/worker is specified,
- within 9 weeks if a candidate/worker is not specified.

Some streams target specific NOC codes, meaning that if you have experience in those in-demand jobs, you either (i) have more chances to be invited or (ii) that you can be eligible to the stream.
